I rather like this video. I blogged about out over here. The rendering seems almost hyper-real, which is fine. I still half-expect a video game character to pop out.
I don't mean to blow anyone's mind, but this video actually caused me to think about a number of things.
First, they should redo the temple video(s). It probably shouldn't matter, but it does to me.
Second, I don't quite understand the relationship between environment and psychology. I am attracted to the types of built environments this guy describes, but why? How much is a coding effect?--he references the right cameras and furniture and big-name architects. How much is actually in the structure itself?--the careful balance of symmetries and asymmetries. How much is behavior triggered by place?--the equivalent of feeling religious when you enter a church.
Meh, probably standard aesthetic questions any MFA would address....
This makes me think many things as well.
ReplyDeleteFirst, the fact that this is the work of one person makes me sick to my stomach.
Second, you are the second person to show this to me and the first time I was totally uninterested in the concept and thought the technical qualities were the only benefit of this piece. Watching it again, though, I think it brings up some good questions about the need for architecture.
Third, this is better when played with other music behind it.
Finally, will Gehry always have to be be our generations answer to Kahn and van der Rohe?
These are my thoughts. Let's kick it Kaahl.
