Sleepiness

I finally decided to do something about my chronic sleeplessness--well, do something besides take sleeping medication and run wild on facebook. The Stanford Sleep Clinic was nicer than most of the hotels I stayed in when I went to my sisters wedding in Europe. (Btw, I have no photos of that trip because I realized, in the end, I simply don't like interrupting the flow of my trip to stop and take pictures.) Hopefully in 2-3 weeks, they will have analyzed all my data, reviewed my video of me sleeping all night, and tell me that, yes, I am indeed not sleeping well. I am also enrolled for group sleep therapy--which is apparently a group session where we all talk about how we try to sleep, but can't.

Some photos on facebook, hat tip to Jenni for taking them. Video below of them hooking me up with sensors. And even though it looks like they are injecting stuff into my brain, it is actually just conducting gel that they insert between the lead wire and my skin. But it looks like I am tough and just take skull injections well.

  1. You will get over your sleeplessness just in time to marry and have children - who will then keep you up all night. You won't have any trouble falling asleep then!!

  2. So, here's my question: How are you supposed to sleep with all of those wires connected to your body? The nose tubes would drive me crazy and the tape too. How many hours of sleep did you actually get? Btw-I loved the videos. I hope this study helps and that you get more rest soon!

  3. i don't think I could sleep with all those wires attached. Especially having a hard time sleeping anyway. I hope they figure out a way to help you. Sleep is so essential.

  4. Ditto what Raphae9845 said.

My friend went to a sleep clinic and apparently he stops breathing as he sleeps. What's the diagnosis?
